Animals Australia - the voice for animals
Are Australia's leading animal protection organisation. Their investigations and campaigns are recognised the world over. They unite millions of people who believe in a world where animals are free from cruelty.
World Animal Protection is an international non-profit animal welfare organisation that has been in operation for over 30 years. The charity describes its vision as: A world where animal welfare matters and animal cruelty has ended.
Orangutans need our help!
They are an endangered species, with an estimated 50,000 left in the wild. The greatest threat to their survival is the extensive destruction of the rainforest. Some experts say about 6,000 orangutans are disappearing every year and without our collective help orangutans could be extinct in the wild within our lifetime.
We work to save the orangutan by rescuing and rehabilitating them, with an ultimate goal of releasing them back to the forest where they will be safe from human development, poaching and farming.
Borneo Orangutan Survival Australia (BOSA) is a volunteer organisation raising funds for rescued orangutans since 2001.
We are totally dependent on support from adoptions, sales of our merchandise and donations to help save the orangutan and the rainforest.
As a volunteer organisation, we ensure a very high percentage of donor dollars getting to where they are most needed – to the orangutans in Indonesia.
Humane Society International (HSI) envisions a world in which people change their interaction with other animals and their environments, evolving from exploitation and harm to respect and compassion. We seek to create an ecologically sustainable and humane world for all animals and their environments. Through education, advocacy and empowerment, we seek to forge a comprehensive change in human behaviour, protecting all wildlife and their habitats.
Founded in 1998, Animals Asia promotes compassion and respect for all animals and works to bring about long-term change. We work to end the barbaric bear bile trade, which sees over 10,000 bears kept on bile farms in China, and, according to official figures, about 1,200 suffering the same fate in Vietnam.
Animals Asia has rescued over 500 bears, caring for them at its award-winning bear sanctuaries in China and Vietnam.
Animals Asia also works to end the trade in dogs and cats for food in China and Vietnam, and lobbies to improve the welfare of companion animals, promote humane population management and prevent the cross border export of "meat dogs" in Asia.
In addition, Animals Asia campaigns for an end to abusive animal practices in zoos and safari parks in Asia, and works closely with governing authorities to improve animal management and increase awareness of the welfare needs of captive animals.
Our mission is to stop the degradation of the planet's natural environment and to build a future in which humans live in harmony with nature, by:
- conserving the world’s biological diversity
- ensuring that the use of renewable natural resources is sustainable
- promoting the reduction of pollution and wasteful consumption.
